Finding the Lovely

I looked up

That is one majestic tree I thought

I stopped

Drawn to the branches

Each clad in

Red, yellow, green

Golden brown or rust

Colored leaves

Swaying in the gentle breeze.

Against the blue sky

In the distance

She was a beauty

Right there

In the street.

I picked up a leaf

I walked on

With a smile

For I realized

All around us,

We can always

find the ‘lovely’.

  4. As a fellow tree lover, I like the line: "Drawn to the branches". You nailed it then with those last two lines:
    We can always
    find the 'lovely.'
I agree with you and I usually find it outside.

  5. Your poem is an example of the lovely around us. Your writing is a wonderful reminder to be mindful of our surroundings. They often provide a beauty we become too accustomed to and miss its true loveliness.
